Mondays suck.  Anyway, tonight I must go to the grocery store, which is okay.  Also I must exercise, which i'm 50% dreading and 50% excited about.  Its odd.

Anyway, I don't really have alot to write about these days.  This stems from the fact that i'm content.  I really only feel any urge to write when I'm restless.

The popcorn your eating was pissed in, News at 11.

Game Night!

Thursday night is game night.

So far the discussion over what to play has centered around either:

Taboo or Clue: the great Museum Caper.

I'm fine with either.  I just like playing board games.

Back to the Moon!!!!!!

Later today, Nasa will be launching an unmanned probe to our moon.  Its the first step in us returning man to the  moon, permanantly.  Here is the story if your interested:

I'm stoked.  I've always believed that not only should man return to the moon, and beyond, but that it was imperative that we do so.  Human evolution is dependant on our curiousity.  Our drive to expand our knowledge, the push to explore and experiment.

The last 40 years the human race has stagnated and soured.  Where is our sense of wonder?  Where is our desire to know the unknowable?  Kids don't grow up wanting to be astronauts anymore.  Thats just fucked up.

A very busy weekend

Things "I" learned this weekend.

Dorene can sit through like 12 hours of us *playing* D & D without wanting to kill us.
The more people you take to Wal-mart the more fun the trip becomes.
Be prepared to buy cake.
Don't eat leftover house special fried rice.
I like the Wii.
I like Fire Emblem.
The Nashville Zoo has grown up a bit since I last went.
The sound a crying kid makes when he's really tried of crying, but refuses to stop crying, makes me laugh.
I really don't dislike kids as much as I thought I did.
Jesse cut off all his hair.
I am always washing dishes.
I really wanna spend at least 1 day a week doing absolutely nothing.

Life is good

This is probably about as good as it gets for me.

Some people strive and work to excel at some greater goal.  For me, being content is the pinnacle of my existence.

Being content breeds complacency though, which I should very much like to avoid.  If you people find me becoming complacent a swift kick to the side of the head would be appreciated.

Barbeque and Chocolate

So last night we had a barbeque at our new apartment, we grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs.  Rene made brownies, and Shawn has officially become our default grillmaster.

It was good to see the boys all together again, I really think we should do this at least once a month.

In other news, Chocolate fondue ftw.

Rebooting Star Trek

Okay, so I saw the new Star Trek film yesterday.  I liked it.  It was a good movie.

As a trekkie, i'm not sure I like the precedent it set.  You see, this movie is not canon, it cannot, and never will be canon in the Gene Roddenberry universe of Star Trek.  It is the very first Star Trek movie that you can say this about.  Therefore, you now have 2 Star Treks.  The Gene Roddenberry Star Trek, and the J.J. Abrams Star Trek.

I prefer the former, because it has 40 years of story tied up in it.  The latter is edgy and new and hip, and its kinda cool, but its just a movie.  The former is an epic.

I have no doubt that J.J. Abrams version will be a commercial success, and should spawn more movies.  I'm good with this, it should be interesting to see where his movies take us.  It will never replace the Gene's vision in my heart though.
